Wedding with Shakespeare &Co

Lesley and Geoffrey had a lot of fun creating a theatrical wedding at the Inn in Topanga in May.They came in with a truck load of decor, some of items were from their house and many afterwards reusable for their home decor.

Their favors were poetry books, which also were a great decor for the tables. The outstanding organic food and organic wedding cake were a great part of their passionate feast.

Green Wedding – Literally

As more and more catastrophes are hitting the planet people are thinking greener, as in: what can we do to avoid further environmental damage. Green Weddings are a great and very personal contribution. Some take the green literally.

And what better time to remind us of all shades of green with St Patricks day coming up on March 17.

Simply Cute Weddings

“Real Simple” magazine did a great job on their wedding 2011 issue with sweet and simple instructions and to do lists.

The whimsical and creative weddings they published look exciting and right up my alley, not too simple but to create but when done in an heartfelt way, weddings can really be easy – and their results look amazing.

Malibu Nature Preserve

Michelle and Andrew got married on Saturday, 9/4/2010 at the gorgeous bluff and celebrated their wedding in two different Sycamore groves, one for cocktail and hors d’oeuvres and the other, further in the woods, for the reception and dance party.

Hand painted signs and local flowers, re-used mason jars of all kinds and sizes and organic foods made this a lightly green event.

Green Weddings Signs- Reclaimed, Rustic, Right on..

Eileen and Ian got married at the Orella Ranch in Santa Barbara, a gorgeous nature paradise with ocean views. Not only that, celebrating your best day here means supporting sustainable land use and lifestyle practices.

Ian and his father Paul created the rustic-cool wedding signs from reclaimed wood.

Lavender added a beautiful fragrance and the touch of Southern France.

Beautiful re-usable design elements: Chalkboards and wooden furniture.

The California farm theme was beautifully continued with mason jars, lemonades, natural fans, drinks iced in tn buckets, succulent centerpieces and even the little toy cow on wheels wasn’t missing.

Straw bails, already on site,  are just perfect for displays or to sit on like at our new private and eco-friendly wedding venue in the romantic hills of Malibu.

Florals were put in scene by GD Design.

The dessert display from “Enjoy Cupcakes” couldn’t have been more ideal.

Natural lighting saved energy, don’t we love perfection?

A beautiful couple, inside and out…

Jackie Wonders did the stunning photography, another treasure.

Green Country Fair Wedding in Bel Air

Blake and Stephen’s green wedding on May 30 was the high light of my re-defined luxury weddings so far: the colorful contrast of eco-friendly county fair wedding with organic food stands around a Bel Air mansion was a great surprise and lots of fun for 500 happy guests in blue and white gingham heaven.

The organic flowers and center pieces with fresh vegetables, later donated to be used, came from the creative team of Dandelion, Los Angeles.

Hans Rockenwagner donated jummy Pretzels and Michael Rosenberg from Evolution sponsored delicious fresh pressed juices, the spiked melon cooler was to die for.

The scene was buzzing with our amazing vendors, entertainers from Zebra, catering by Bite, eco friendly rentals from Classic, organic expresso by Amore, desserts by Sweetn’ Saucy and so much more.

Lovely Lisa from PhotoWorks saved us with her Classic 1957 Black & White Photo booth last minute as the vendor who we had booked half a year earlier “forgot” about it and let us know on Friday before the wedding and half an hour before businesses closed. I never called so many people in ten minutes…. Life of a planner can be rather challenging.

Kids had a whole entertainment paradise on the green astro turf wrapped tennis court. All of our 16 cute signs were hand painted by Suzanne Holland.

Harry, the goat say hi from within our petting zoo…

Musically highlighted by 70ties rock by PCH band, an energetic and truly enjoyable DJ, Blas, and creatively set in scene by Angelica Weihs Events, this was green glamor of the best and enjoyed by down to earth celebs and an experienced party crowd appreciating the innovation of our event. When I first met Blake she figured her idea of a county fair wedding might sound kooky but it turned out that her daring imagination was the heart of this success.

Updates to come…

Topanga Beach Ceremony

Tina and John got married on a beautiful September afternoon. They stopped at Topanga Beach for the ceremony, then, without adding extra travel, drove on to arrive at the Inn in Topanga, vibrating with the invigorating beauty of the ocean.

The vegan organic wedding cake was to live for. The wedding was greenish, integrating an organic menu and flowers.

Bride Share Naturally

When Gavin and Rochelle got married on Saturday, September 19, 2009 he had been my guy for planning and preparing the wedding. Rochelle, a model, had to fly around in the world to finish her contracts.

Gavin brought his own Chiavari chairs and dark brown napkins and had the tent re-draped with a beautiful thin cotton.

Inside the Inn’s church room, white drapes surrounded the guests.

It was gorgeous and as I’m the green wedding planner, I bargained with Gavin with the result that he left the amazing drapes, a happy surprised for Elia, the mom of a November wedding who really wanted new drapes but was fighting with her budgets to get it done.

I often keep an eye on weddings before or after mine and arrange sharing of rentals and decor if the tastes are similar. We did a lighting share at the Ranch in Calabasas recently, it saves money, time and energy.

Gavin made sure that his butterflies were native and raised by a responsible company, all butterflies made the trip alive and dashed out of their boxes, a little drunk and rather eager to find the love of their lifes…
