Weddings in the 21 centuryTopanga Beach Ceremony
Tina and John got married on a beautiful September afternoon. They stopped at Topanga Beach for the ceremony, then, without adding extra travel, drove on to arrive at the Inn in Topanga, vibrating with the invigorating beauty of the ocean.
The vegan organic wedding cake was to live for. The wedding was greenish, integrating an organic menu and flowers.
Bride Share Naturally
When Gavin and Rochelle got married on Saturday, September 19, 2009 he had been my guy for planning and preparing the wedding. Rochelle, a model, had to fly around in the world to finish her contracts.
Gavin brought his own Chiavari chairs and dark brown napkins and had the tent re-draped with a beautiful thin cotton.
Inside the Inn’s church room, white drapes surrounded the guests.
It was gorgeous and as I’m the green wedding planner, I bargained with Gavin with the result that he left the amazing drapes, a happy surprised for Elia, the mom of a November wedding who really wanted new drapes but was fighting with her budgets to get it done.
I often keep an eye on weddings before or after mine and arrange sharing of rentals and decor if the tastes are similar. We did a lighting share at the Ranch in Calabasas recently, it saves money, time and energy.
Gavin made sure that his butterflies were native and raised by a responsible company, all butterflies made the trip alive and dashed out of their boxes, a little drunk and rather eager to find the love of their lifes…

Malibu Nature Preserve

Jane &Ethan got married at the Malibu Nature Preserve’s Sycamore Grove on October 10, 2009 two weeks after Stephanie&Randal (photos below) who were the couple who inaugurated the horse arena as a wedding site.
Green Weddings
Asako and Noguchi celebrated at the Inn of the Seventh Ray on November 5, 2009, a joyful mix of Japanese and American Traditions.
Quirky Green

Vegan in a wild and classy way – Candace and Josh celebrated their wedding at the Malibu Nature Preserve in November: flowers were organic, food, wine and the amazing chocolate cake were deliciously vegan, the “guest book” patches will become a quilt, and who found a green Ninja on their pimento napkin (on gold linen) could take home the wrought iron candelabra center piece. A couple who plays Wii together with their friends on their rehearsal dinner will dance together for a long time: especially after a first dance accompanied by Kermit, the frog. The combination of quirky ideas and elegance was fun to work with, refreshing and heart warming. Their guests smiled till it hurt…
Country weddings
I love country weddings, one of the reasons being that we can have animals join the festivities: dogs as ring bearers, birds and horses as symbols of beauty and (domesticated) freedom and Zebras if we rent a vineyard like the Malibu Family Wines.
On December 6, 2008, Rebecca will ride into her wedding reception at the Mermaid Mansion on a beautiful Arabian horse. Her fiance Harry, not the avid horse man, doesn’t want to break his neck so her volunteered to “gallantly” accompany her on foot. I am looking forward to their wedding, working on the Neptunian decor right now…We are thinking of ocean themed candelabras. Updates will follow.

Viva Polar bears: The English don't like to be lied at by a company that finances disputes of global warming. Eugene Shandu in Daily Green reports: "The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has made a ruling against an ExxonMobil television ad that uses imagery that relates their carbon-emitting power source to wind and solar power and suggests liquefied natural gas (LNG) is super clean."
The discussion is putting big bad Exxon in the news again, the heat is on.
Who will win? The rise of consciousness we hope.
